Students, please note: lockers without locks on them will be bolted at the end of this week. If you are going to be using your locker this year, be sure lock it up by Friday. Locker registration slips are due in the Main Office by Friday as well.
 
Attention ANY student interested in being part of this year's Homecoming Dance Planning Committee…please attend the first meeting this Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:10pm in Room 257.  
 
Attention all students who’d like a say in next year's summer reading and something to put on a college application, a meeting will be held, Thursday, Sept. 14 after school in Room 131. This committee is looking for readers of all grades and reading levels to approve books for next summer. If you are interested in being on the committee but cannot attend the meeting see Mrs. Blocker in Room 131. 
 
Are you good at math?  Do you enjoy solving challenging problems?  Consider joining the Math Team!  Our first meeting will be this Friday, Sept. 15 right after school in Room 265.  Come find out more about the team and our plans for the year.  If you are interested in joining but cannot attend, please see Mr. Brindisi in Room 265.
 
Anyone interested in joining the Bobcat Bowling Club should plan on attending a meeting Wednesday, Sept. 27 after school from 2:15 to 2:45pm in Room 168. See Mr. Gray for more details.
 
Representatives from Dartmouth College, Springfield College and Assumption College will all be visiting the Career Center later today. It is not too late to sign up or attend these great opportunities. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will host representatives from University of New Haven, Lincoln Technical Institute, and Marist College. All visits are listed in Naviance under the "Colleges" tab.
 
Seniors - remind your parents that Senior Parent Night is tomorrow night, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The program begins in the auditorium and will provide valuable information to guide you through the college application process!
 
There will be an introductory Mock Trial Meeting Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:10 PM in Room 157. All students who signed up and any other interested students should attend.  If you cannot attend be sure to see Mr. Zeuschner.
 
Model UN Meeting for new and returning students: If you have not yet registered for Model UN 2017, please join us for important information about this year’s exciting program. Please make every effort to attend the meeting on Sept. 13 at 2:05pm in the back of the Media Center. If you have questions, please see Ms. Simcik in Room 166.
 
South Windsor For the Kids is having its first meeting this Wednesday, Sept. 13 after school from 2:00 to 2:20pm in the seminar room. The meeting is open to returning members as well as new members who are interested in learning more about the club. Have you heard of the Interact Club? We are a community service organization that helps make our school, town, state, and the world a better place! If you are interested in giving back, consider joining Interact! We will be holding an informational meeting for new and returning members this Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:05pm in the Seminar Room. Hey foodies!  The Cooking Club will be having an informational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13 after school in Room 105.  We'll be picking our monthly menu themes and discussing club officer positions, so if you love to cook and are looking for leadership opportunities, it could be a recipe for success!  Please see Ms. Clifford or Senora Ruiz with questions.
 
South Windsor Youth & Family Services is hosting a Leadership Academy for SWHS students who are looking to sharpen skills and boost confidence to help prepare you for school, work, college, and community involvement. Come learn about what it means to be a leader and improve your skills while acquiring new ones. We will cover: public speaking, how to market yourself successfully, building leadership skills, confidence, and effective communication. This event will take place on Friday, Sept. 15 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the SW Community Center. Athletic News:
All three girls’ volleyball teams had tough matches at home last night vs. East Hartford. The freshmen team lost a close one 2-1, JV won 2-1 after making a big comeback in the 2nd game, and varsity won 3-1 with a score of 30-28 in a comeback win in game 3. The team will be home again tomorrow vs. Windsor. Good luck to the team; hope to see you in the stands cheering!
