Attention Interact Club members: Do not forget to join our classroom. The code is outside Mrs. Howard's room, Room 134. Once you have joined the classroom, please fill out the Google form to join the club. Lastly, dues of $5 are due to Mrs. Howard by Friday. 
 
Looking for a good book to read? The South Windsor High School Book Club will meet on Monday, September 25th at 2:05 in Room 100.  New members are encouraged to attend, and all fandoms are accepted. Come help select our first book of this school year.  If you would like to participate but cannot attend, please see Mrs. Busa.
 
Bryant University will visits the Career Center today at 11 a.m. It is not too late to attend!  Please come to the Career Center to meet the representative if you are interested in applying to Bryant or just want to learn more about the university.
 
A representative from Nichols College will visit the Career Center Wednesday morning. A representative from Providence College will be in the Media Center Seminar Room at 12:30pm.  Please sign up in Naviance for these visits so we can track attendance.
 
Are you a sophomore, junior or senior budding entrepreneur? Does the idea of winning a scholarship to Seton Hall University interest you? If so, check out the Pirates Pitch Competition sponsored by the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University. Submit an original business idea that, in 350 words or less, describes an innovative product or service that you would like to create or have already created. Submission deadline is October 18th. For the students who have successfully applied to UConn’s ECE Program during this year’s LATE WINDOW, please check your email for your UConn Net ID. You must use that Net ID to log into UConn’s database and officially enroll in your ECE Courses by September 29th. See Mr. Wry with any questions.
 
A COLLEGE ESSAY WRITING workshop will be held in the career center on TODAY. One session will be held during 8th period and another will be offered right after school. If you have questions, please see Dr. LaRochelle in the School Counseling Office.
 
The Teen Center will have its second annual “Back to School” celebration with pizza, prizes and giveaways from 2-4pm. There will be Late Bus Pick Up, so join us!
 
Are you interested in camping and enjoying the great outdoors? Join the Outing Club on our first camping trip to Nickerson Campground on October 14th. Stop by Room 234C to see Ms. Andrews or Room 254 to see Mrs. Lynch for permission slips or questions.
 
There will be open auditions on Monday, September 25th for the award winning Spectrum Band. Auditions will be held after school from 2-4pm. Materials are posted on the wall outside the band room. See Mr. Martineau in Room 4 for details!! Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this award winning ensemble! 
 
Do you love Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter? Come join the new Science Fiction/Fantasy club. On the first Monday of every month, we meet in Room 127 from 2-5pm to watch and talk about what science fiction/fantasy films can teach us about ourselves. See Mrs. McCullough in Room 127 to sign up this week.  
 
Athletic News:
-The Girls’ Volleyball team ran into a tough CCC opponent last night when they traveled to Avon. The JV and freshmen teams lost 2-0 and varsity lost 3-1. The team will be home twice this week first on Wednesday vs. Berlin and Tolland on Friday. Hope to see you there!
