Homework Club will start today in Room 126 at 2:00pm. See you there! 

The SWHS football team is scheduled to play a big game on Thursday, September 28 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford at 6:00 PM.  We would like to make this a community event with a pre-game tailgate with free food!  The celebration will begin at 4:00pm.  Please join us....and bring something to share!  We are collecting food donations for the tailgate in Main Office.  Please drop your contributions of chips, cookies, and other pre-packaged foods through Thursday the 28th. 
 
There will be college representatives in the Career Center every day this week.  Today’s colleges are Fitchburg State University and University of Scranton, and tomorrow a representative from Siena College will visit. Check specific times in Naviance and sign up!

The CHET Advance Scholarship provides an opportunity for high school seniors and freshmen to win money for their future college plans.  Students must apply by October 3rd at www.chetadvance.com.  There will 100 scholarships awarded to seniors and another 100 scholarships awarded to freshmen through random drawings.  For more information go to the website or check out the brochure on the Scholarship and Aid bulletin board in the Career Center.

Do you like dogs? Come find out on October 2nd in the back of the Media Center from 2:05PM to 2:45PM and meet a big white fluffy dog. For more information and to sign up, see Mrs. Blocker in Room 131 or send her an email. 

The South Asian Culture Club will be meeting after school on Thursday, September 28 in Room 229. New members are always welcome.

There will be additional College Essay Writing Workshops!  These will be held on Wednesday, September 27th during last period AND after school in the School Counseling Office. If you have questions, please see Dr. LaRochelle.

Student Council will have a meeting Monday, September 25th at 2:10pm in Room 163 for all interested in running for an officer position.  

There will be open auditions on Tuesday, October 3rd from 6:30-8:00pm for the SWHS Men's A Capella Ensemble “Understaffed”. Auditions will be held that evening in the Choir Room, Room 4. Audition information and materials are posted on the wall outside the Choir Room. See Mr. Martineau in Room 4 for details!! Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of it! 

HOMECOMING PLANNING:  The Homecoming Planning Committee will meet tomorrow at 2:10pm in Room 257. 

For the students who have successfully applied to UConn’s ECE Program during this year’s LATE WINDOW, please check your email for your UConn Net ID.  You must use that Net ID to log into UConn’s database and officially enroll in your ECE Courses by September 29th.  See Mr. Wry with any questions.

The SWHS Book Club will meet on TODAY at 2:05pm in Room 100.  New members are encouraged to attend.  If you plan to participate in Book Club this year but cannot attend this meeting, please check in with Mrs. Busa in Room 100 sometime today. 

Are you an empathetic person who uses your voice to speak for those who can't?  Do you believe in a safe space for all students?  Then please, let us celebrate you this week -- Ally Week!  Join the Gay-Straight Alliance in Room 148 today for a celebration of YOU and all that you bring to our community.  And feel free to encourage other groups or teams to be bold in asserting their Alliance this week with a photo or a video on the morning announcements!  We are proud to stand beside you and are thankful for your support!

Students Against Destructive Decisions, also known as SADD, will be holding its first meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 7am in the back of the Media Center.  All are welcome!

The South Windsor Bobcat FIRST Robotics Team B will hold its first meeting tomorrow immediately after school in Room 12. If you are interested in joining Bobcat Robotics, please attend our meeting on Tuesday.

Last call...there will be open auditions today for the award winning Spectrum Band. Auditions will be held after school from 2-4pm. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this award winning ensemble! 

Athletic News:

-South Windsor varsity field hockey defeated NFA 10-0. They will play Southington away on Tuesday. 

-The girls’ volleyball team faced CCC opponent Tolland at Home on Monday. The freshmen team lost a close match with a score of 2-1, JV won 2-0 and varsity lost 3-0. The team will travel to RHAM tonight and then return home on Wednesday vs. Rockville. Come out and support your Lady Bobcats!
