Mind's Eye will host a Coffee House this Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Join us for food, music, poetry, and more. All are welcome.

FBLA will be selling shamrocks for the Muscular Dystrophy Association all this week during all lunch waves. Please buy a shamrock for a dollar and help support the MDA. Thank you! 

Students: Naviance has changed its sign in process. When you visit Naviance through the SWHS website, you can now log in with your standard network username and password using Clever. Clever is a company that manages multiple websites using one exterior sign in page. Click on the CLEVER button at the bottom of the page, select SWHS, and enter your network username and password. Please visit Mrs. Carty in the Career Center with any questions. (Note: The parent Naviance login process will not change at this time.)

A local medical office is looking for a mature and responsible student in the Class of 2021 to work 8-12 hours per week after school with additional hours available over the summer. This is a clerical position including filing, photocopying, placing appointment reminder calls and other tasks, but students who have an interest in the healthcare field will benefit from seeing how a medical offices works and are encouraged to apply. A flyer is hanging in the Career Center with details and information on how to apply.

The application process is now open for the Future Law Enforcement Youth Academy (FLEYA).  Students 16 years to 18 years old who are enrolled in a Connecticut high school may apply, but students graduating in 2020 are NOT eligible. The camp runs from July 26th through August 1st at the Yale University campus, where students will stay for the week.  A link to the application is in the Enrichment Programs listed in Naviance.

Bristol Technical Education Center is holding an Open House on Thursday, March 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Students entering grades 11 and 12 next year with an interest in technical programs such as precision manufacturing, culinary arts, mechatronics, automotive, HVAC, and welding can visit and learn more about the campus and what it offers. A flyer with more information is hanging in the Career Center.

In connection with the Memorial Day commemoration activities to be held on Monday, May 25th, the South Windsor Patriotic Commission is pleased to announce its annual essay contest. Students in grades 9-12 can submit an essay (500 words or less) on the topic of “An American patriot who inspires me and why.” All entries must be received by the Patriotic Commission no later than Friday, February 28th. The entry form and additional details are available in the SWHS main office, in the Career Center and in your Social Studies classes.

Athletic News:

Any girls interested in Outdoor Track and Field who have not participated in High School Track before or are new to the sport, should attend an informational meeting on either Thursday Feb. 27th or Wednesday March 4th after school from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. in room 127. See Coach McCullough in room 127 with any questions.
