FBLA will be selling shamrocks for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during all lunch waves. Please buy a shamrock for a dollar and help support the MDA.

A local medical office is looking for a mature and responsible student in the Class of 2021 to work 8-12 hours per week after school with additional hours available over the summer. This is a clerical position including filing, photocopying, placing appointment reminder calls and other tasks, but students who have an interest in the healthcare field will benefit from seeing how a medical offices works and are encouraged to apply. A flyer is hanging in the Career Center with details and information on how to apply.

The results of the American Mathematics Contest are in, and here are our top scorers: On the AMC10, 3rd place is Yunfei Zheng with 106.5 points, 2nd place is Jaideep Naik with 111 points, and 1st place goes to Aryan Kalia with 112.5 points. On the AMC12, 3rd place is Keshav Ramesh with 78 points, 2nd place is Noah Leibowitz with 82.5 points, and 1st place is Michael Ngo with 97.5 points. In addition, Michael, Aryan, Jaideep, and Yunfei qualified to take the very prestigious American Invitational Mathematics Examination. Congratulations to all who competed. Students who took the AMC10 or AMC12 can see their mathematics teacher for their score.

Did you know that just one pint of blood can save up to three lives? Be a lifesaver and sign up to donate blood at the school blood drive on Wednesday, March 11th! Interested students over 17 can sign up through the google form posted in your grade’s Google Classroom.

The UConn Office of Early College Programs has two scholarship opportunities that will allow students to participate in the 2020 Pre-College Summer (PCS) program. The UConn Pre-College Summer ECE Partner School Scholarship is for students at ECE partner schools only. The student chosen does not have to be enrolled in a UConn course, but must be a student at the partner school. The South Windsor Little League Scholarships application is now available. Students who participated in South Windsor Little League through baseball, softball, umpiring or volunteering are eligible to apply. You can download an application from the scholarship listing in Naviance or pick one up in the Career Center. The deadline to submit your application is April 15th.

New England Institute of Technology is hosting a Welcome Day on Sunday, March 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Registration begins at 9 a.m.). The day will feature a student panel and tours of academic labs, the residence hall and student center as well as other amenities. Go to NEIT.edu for more information and to register.

Freshmen have an opportunity to apply now for a college scholarship through the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET). To be eligible for the CHET Advance Scholarship you must be a high school freshman in Connecticut with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and intend to begin a higher education program no later than September 2024. There are two types of scholarships available – one that is a random drawing and another that requires a civic engagement assignment. For information on how to apply see the Career Center, your Social Studies teacher, or the scholarship database in Naviance. The deadline is March 12th.
