Good news Bobcats! The cafeteria has begun serving hot foods such as chicken patties and burgers in the cafeteria and pendulum area.

The Math Team is back, and will be competing virtually in our league this year!  Anyone who is interested should join our Google Classroom with code 7m5sgvy and attend our first meeting TODAY, Friday, September 25th at 2:30 p.m. using the link in Google Classroom. Environmental Club is returning for the 2020-2021 school year. This year the club will be completely virtual. If interested please join our NEW Google Classroom, code: 5szwfah. Our first virtual meeting will be on Tuesday, September 29th at 2:30 p.m. where we will define our agenda for the year.

South Windsor for the Kids will be returning this year as a school wide event! If you’re interested in being a part of the cause please join the google classroom using the code r366fod. In addition, if you’re interested in having an Executive Board position this year, instructions for applying can be found on the Google Classroom page. Anyone is eligible to apply.

FCCLA is dedicated to enhancing your life and resume through community service opportunities, virtual fundraising for conferences and competitions, and leadership opportunities. If you are interested in pursuing a career in culinary, food service, child care or development, teaching, or entrepreneurship, join FCCLA with the google class code DIGFEPS to find out what we are all about! 

We are excited to share that the SW Teen Center will reopen to SWHS students on Thursday, October 1st! We will be open for high school students on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can walk across the street to the teen center to unwind, have a snack and catch up on school work. This will be based on cohorts so we can follow the same protocol as the high school. Space is limited so you will have to call or email to reserve a spot. [email protected] or 860-648-5050.

Hey Bobcat Nation… It’s election time at SWHS! Class Officer and Student Council campaigning is beginning soon. Check the website for links to campaign posters. Check your grade’s Google Classroom for the campaign videos. Voting will be held Wednesday, September 30th.

The Common Ground Leadership Program is now accepting applications. Any student interested in improving leadership skills, community service and working on their college resume, should reach out to Mr. Orsini by email or see him in room 234A for an application. The deadline for all applications is Friday, October 2nd.
 
This was a great week of college visits. Thanks to all of the students who participated and asked great questions. You are strongly encouraged to turn your camera on so that the admissions representative can better connect with you. Next week’s virtual visits will be hosted by the following colleges or universities: Merrimack College, University of New Haven, Roger Williams University, Sacred Heart University, Tufts University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Rutgers University. An East Hartford warehouse and shipping company is looking for part-time help. Interested students can find information hanging in the Career Center or on our blog. The company has a training program available for workers who show potential for advanced opportunities.
