November 11, 2020 marks Veterans Day. Veterans Day occurs every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. We take this opportunity each year to thank and honor those that have served our country. This year students will be viewing a virtual Veterans Day ceremony in all Social Studies classes on November 10th and 12th. Additionally, we have been able to record interviews with Veterans in our community, representatives from the Patriotic Commission and American Legion. These stories will be shared with students in Social Studies classes on both November 10th and 12th as well. Thank you to all Veterans for their service and sacrifice!
