CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

Unified for Underprivileged Girls is having a fundraiser at a local bread and soup restaurant in Evergreen walk this Saturday, October 16th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.! Please come and show your support by purchasing some delicious food and presenting the flyer below. All proceeds are donated to underprivileged girls in Kenya to purchase school supplies and other tools to be successful. Hope to see you there!

At Home in this New Home (AHNH) is a brand new club at South Windsor High School! We are committed to helping refugees gain comfort in their new home and will be focusing on Afghanistan refugees this year by partnering with the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI). We are looking for new members to help us with our first project - a winter accessory drive collecting new hats, scarves, gloves, and socks to help Afghan refugees prepare for their first New England winter! Please join our Google Classroom page using the code 2nwrnzo and consider attending our next meeting on Monday, November 1st. For more information please see Ms. Festi in room 124.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

We have two last days of college visits this week. Today we will host University of Delaware, Boston College, Lasell University, and University of Hartford. Tomorrow, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, University of Vermont, Rollins College, and Virginia Tech will visit. Please note: the Boston College visit will take place in the Media Center Seminar Room. Next week’s college visits will start with Hofstra University, University of Tennessee, UMass – Lowell, and American International College on Tuesday. There will be NO college visits on Monday due to the early dismissal. Continue to check Naviance to see all college visits and to register for them.

ATHLETICS

Any girls interested in playing ice hockey this winter as part of the Storm Co-Op Ice hockey team that includes South Windsor, Glastonbury, East Catholic, Rockville and Tolland should see South Windsor Athletic Director, Dave Sytulek, for details regarding an upcoming informational meeting with the coach, Frank Usseglio.

Come support Bobcat Field Hockey on Tuesday, 10/19 at 3:45 pm for their annual pink out game. Snacks will be for sale to raise money for breast cancer awareness. And don’t miss the chance to celebrate our graduating players on senior day on 10/26 at 3:45pm. Both games will be on the SWHS turf field.
