Join us for the musical production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka this November! Based on the 1971 Gene Wilder film, this classic chronicles Willy Wonka's famous contest in which five lucky Golden Ticket winners get to tour his marvelous chocolate factory. Show dates: Friday, Nov. 12th at 7pm, Saturday, Nov. 13th at 7pm and Sunday, Nov. 14th at 2pm. Ticket Prices: Adults $15 and Kids $10. Blood drives across America are facing low reserves due to low donor turnout from the COVID pandemic. We have the ability now to help save lives and donate blood at the SWHS Blood Drive! Join us on Tuesday, November 9th by signing up using any of the QR codes posted around the school or using the link below. You can schedule an appointment for a time that's convenient for you. Please note this drive is only for students and staff. Students must be 17 years or older to donate, but students may donate at age 16 with parental consent. There will be refreshments after your donation. Let's roll up our sleeves and donate blood today! It’s solidarity week!! This is a week to honor inclusivity and stand up as an ally for the Queer community and any other member of a marginalized group. Show your support by purchasing a sticker or ribbon.
 
On behalf of the equity council, we would like to provide materials to recognize and celebrate Native American History Month. Available here are lesson plans, activities and other resources to recognize the contributions Native American’s have made and continue to make on our local, national, and global community. 
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish a Happy Diwali to all who celebrate!

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
 
Join Teens Against Poverty with their first food drive of the year. Please donate non-perishable goods through Friday, November 5th. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to donate sealed boxes of cereal, pasta or other basic canned necessities. All proceeds will be delivered to MACC Charities Community Emergency Food Pantry. Bins to drop your donations off will be room 131 and the lobby. For more information join the classroom code 7d5sa60.
 
Interested in modern issues and speaking? Join Debate Club! We meet every Friday in room 250! We do both casual debates and competition prep for the formal debate tournament held in spring if you're interested! For more information, join our google classroom with the code tcpf5sz.
 
Attention all students interested in skiing or snowboarding this winter with the Ski and Snowboard Club. Registration for the South Windsor High School Ski & Snowboard Club is open at the Recreation Department! Registration will be available until November 5th on the South
Windsor Recreation website. South Windsor High School trips to Mount Southington will begin January 6th and run for 6 weeks. Please email Mrs. Baker at TEMS if you have any questions. Hope to see you on the slopes!
 
South Windsor for the Kids is holding a Pajama Day on Tuesday, November 9th. Dress up in PJs and donate $1 to SWFTK. Collection will be taken during your lunch wave. Proceeds go to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
 
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

For students interested in learning more about aviation or becoming a pilot, there will be a Young Eagles rally on Saturday, November 6th at the Meriden-Markham Airport. Kids up to 17 years of age can meet with pilots, learn about what they do before, during and after a flight and even take a flight! The event is free, but registration is required, and all participants must attend with a parent or guardian. For information on how to attend, please visit the Career Center to see the posted flyer.
