SCHOOL NEWS

Attention Seniors: You have the opportunity to reduce your individual senior class expenses by participating in our gift card fundraiser. All information has been posted on the Class of 2022 Google Classroom and on the Class of 2022 Website. This fundraiser ends on Tuesday, November 30th. Please see Mrs. McCool or Ms. Andrews with any questions.

The last Senior Portrait dates are November 29th through December 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room. Schedule and confirm your appointment with the link on the SWHS website. Underclassmen and Staff picture retakes are available on Monday, November 22nd. Also, make sure to purchase your Story Worth Living Yearbook before the price increases on December 31st. The link to purchase is on the SWHS website.

It is time to nominate a staff member for November's Staffulty of the Month award. Congratulations to Mr. Ly and Ms. Whitmore for winning the October 2021 Staffulty of the Month recognition! There were over 200 nominations for staff members from students for October. Students can nominate faculty and staff for the Staffulty of the Month award. This is someone you feel demonstrates kindness, understanding, and encouragement. Nominations will be reviewed by Student Council officers. Please nominate a staff member on your Class page on Google Classroom. Nominations will close on Tuesday, November 30th.

Beginning Wednesday, December 1st, students may no longer request cups for use at the water bottle refill stations. They are NOT available through the Nurse, Career Center, School Counseling, or the Main Office. All students are encouraged to bring a water bottle from home and use the refill stations throughout the building.

Starting Monday November 29th, the stadium and patio will be closed for the winter season. Students can eat lunch in the cafeteria, hall of achievement, in the office hallway or in the media center.

South Windsor High School will be administering the ASVAB CEP again this year. The test will be held on Wednesday, December 15th at 7:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room. Whether you’re planning to go to college, a vocational school, or the Military, or you’re just not sure what you want to do yet, the ASVAB CEP can provide you with important information about your skills and interests -- and help get you on the right path toward a satisfying career. There are only a limited number of seats available, so seats will be first come, first serve. The test is open to all students in grades 10-12. If you would like to take the ASVAB CEP, please email Mr. Briggs at [email protected] or stop by the School Counseling Office.

 CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

The SADD club will be collecting socks to donate to a local homeless shelter. Collection baskets will be located throughout the building through Wednesday, November 24th.

There will be a Student Council meeting after school on Tuesday, November 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Media Center. All members are welcome! We will be focusing on holiday events & spirit week.
