SCHOOL NEWS:

March is Women's History Month. Women's History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of history in a variety of fields. We will spotlight different individuals each week.
Today for Women’s History Month, we recognize CT Women’s Hall of Fame inductee Indra Nooyi. Nooyi is known as an international leader in corporate business. Born in India in 1955, Nooyi began her studies and career in India, eventually studying at Yale School of Management and continuing her career at a series of international companies. She was eventually named President and CEO of PepsiCo in 2006 becoming the fifth CEO in PepsiCo’s 44-year history. She made many important contributions during her time at PepsiCo and beyond.

Weekly Tip from the Writing Center: If you are struggling to start writing, try answering the prompt verbally and write down what you said.  Consider recording what you say so you don't forget all your great ideas. For more writing tips and help, visit the Writing Center. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2-3 in room 136. No appointment needed.

Seniors taking the next assessment for the Seal of Biliteracy, don’t forget the test is this Monday, March 7th in the cafe immediately after school. Pizza Lunch will be served.

Attention Seniors: The last Capstone presentation wave is on March 24th.  If you have not already completed your Capstone, please make sure your written work is turned in to your adviser on or before March 14th.  If you plan on presenting on March 24th, go to the Capstone Website and fill out the Google Form that has been posted. After the March wave, any remaining seniors who have not completed Capstone will be reassigned to the Capstone Support Team for intensive intervention. Additionally, students who have not signed up for the March wave will have changes made to their second semester schedules.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

Students enrolled in Personal Finance or Accounting 2 have two more weeks to register for credit through Manchester Community College. This is free college credit for taking these courses, and the deadline for registration is Friday, March 18th – no exceptions. The link to register is in your Google Classroom. See Mrs. Carty or Mr. Leon in School Counseling if you need any help.

There will be two college visits in School Counseling next week.  A representative from Simmons University will be here on Tuesday at 11:15 am and a representative from Binghamton University will be here on Thursday at 12:45 pm. These are great opportunities for Seniors making final decisions about college or juniors just starting to explore their options. Both visits are posted in Naviance. Please sign up to attend.

ATHLETICS:

Any girls who are new to Track and Field at the high school and plan to join this Spring, should attend an informational meeting on Wed. March 9th in Rm. 127 from 2-2:30 pm.  Please see Coach McCullough if you have any questions
