SCHOOL NEWS:

If you are interested in being a part of the Homecoming October Pep Rally on October 28th, please fill out the Homecoming Week Pep Rally Participation Form in your Google Classroom. You will compete in some sort of short competition in front of the student body. We will pick a few students from each grade that fill out this form to compete against the other classes. This will be decided at the pep rally and your name will be called out then. 
 
Student IDs will be distributed during all lunch waves on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.  Please stop by the tables in the hallway between the office and cafeteria to pick up your ID.
 
Attention all Students: The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 28th from 7:00-10 pm in the High School Cafeteria. If you would like to bring an outside guest to the dance, please see your grade level Google Classroom for the permission slip or see Mr. Orsini in Room 235. Permission slips must be approved prior to purchasing your guest's ticket. 
 
Let us put YOU in the spotlight! Auditions for the South Windsor High School Tenor/Bass Choir Understaffed will be held  on October 18th at 6:30 pm in Room 4. If you're interested join the Google Classroom for audition materials- 53mkmd7
 
Auditions for the award-winning "Spectrum Band" will be held on October 20th from 2pm to 4 pm in Room 3. We need drummers, Bass players, Guitarists, Alto Saxes, Tenor Saxes, Bari Saxes, Keyboard players, Trumpets and Trombones! Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it. The Class of 2025 is hosting a fundraiser at a local burger restaurant at 360 Buckland Hills Drive on October 17th from 5pm-9pm. Stop by to support the class and enjoy a great meal.
 
Just a reminder that students are always welcome to use the Makerspace after school or during free time by the Media Center. Check out the new additions! 
 
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
                                                                                           
On Thursday, October 13th, the Japanese club will be learning about and making authentic Onigiri, a seaweed, rice snack with a sesame seed topping, thanks to our special guest, a Japanese professional traditional food connoisseur.  We will meet at 2:10 pm in the student kitchen in Room 105. SPACES ARE LIMITED! Please contact Mr. Mabasa if you are interested, before attending. 
 
Interested in STEM? Join FSLA for their second meeting in Room 212 on Friday,October 14th. You can join a variety of activities from STEM competitions, to mentoring, and research. Those who seek recognition in the STEM field as well as volunteer hours should consider joining. The class code is eiy6tdd. Contact Mrs. Davies, Arnav Kumar, or Kevin Joseph for more information.
 
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

Asnuntuck Community College, along with the Leipold Company, will host an Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program for interested students and parents on Thursday, October 20th from 5 to 7pm at 545 Marshall Phelps Road in Windsor. Closed toe/slip resistant shoes and long pants are required. Refreshments will be served. The Hartford Region Open Choice Program and CREC are offering bus transportation to a HBCU College Fair in New York City on Saturday, November 12th. Students who are in 11th grade and in the Open Choice program and any 12th grade student interested in the fair are invited to attend. There is an informational flyer with more details on the big screen outside School Counseling or on the Special Programs bulletin board in the Career Center. Please see Mrs. Bravo in Room 100 if you are interested in registering.
