SCHOOL NEWS:

Attention all Students: The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 28th from 7:00-10 pm in the High School Cafeteria. If you would like to bring an outside guest to the dance, please see your grade level Google Classroom for the permission slip or see Mr. Orsini in Room 235. Permission slips must be approved prior to purchasing your guest's ticket. 
 
The Senior Class is partnering with South Windsor Panthers Football on Saturday, October 15th from 1pm to 9pm. Come to Rye Street Park to volunteer and watch the games. 10% of the proceeds will go towards the Senior Class.
 
Next week is SPIRIT WEEK to celebrate our upcoming college fair! Look for signs around school for theme days:
Monday – COLLEGE DAY: Dress in College/University Spirit Wear.
Tuesday – YOUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT: Wear neon/bright colors.
Wednesday – UNITY DAY: Wear orange in support of National Anti-Bullying Month.
Thursday – DRESS TO IMPRESS: Wear a nice outfit to welcome our college fair representatives.
Friday – ALWAYS A BOBCAT – Wear your favorite SWHS gear!
 
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:

Interested in STEM? Join FSLA for their second meeting in Room 212 on Friday, October 14th. You can join a variety of activities from STEM competitions, to mentoring, and research. Those who seek recognition in the STEM field as well as volunteer hours should consider joining. The class code is eiy6tdd. Contact Mrs. Davies, Arnav Kumar, or Kevin Joseph for more information.
 
Attention all aspiring actors, actresses, writers and directors, if you want to be a part of the SWHS Filmmaking Club! Over the course of this Semester, we are going to create, write, shoot, edit, and produce a full featured short film. We are a new club and are in need of people for every position. We meet on Wednesday afternoons right after school in Room 10. Stop by if you are interested and join our Google Classroom with the code: o23zbcb. See Mr. Jarvis or Aneek Roy for more details.  
 
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:
 
Asnuntuck Community College, along with the Leipold Company, will host an Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program for interested students and parents on Thursday, October 20th from 5 to 7pm at 545 Marshall Phelps Road in Windsor. Closed toe/slip resistant shoes and long pants are required. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to [email protected] by October 18th. 

Next week’s college visits include Drexel University, Fairfield University, University of Maryland – College Park, Salisbury University, Babson College, and Roanoke College. Our SWHS COLLEGE FAIR finally returns on Thursday, October 20th. Over 120 colleges, universities, trade schools and career programs will be set up in the gym on Thursday morning. Students in grades 10-12 will attend in assigned waves and will receive a College Fair Packet in their Homerooms next week.  
                                                                                                   
The Hartford Region Open Choice Program and CREC are offering bus transportation to a HBCU College Fair in New York City on Saturday, November 12th. Students who are in 11th grade and in the Open Choice program and any 12th grade student interested in the fair are invited to attend. There is an informational flyer with more details on the big screen outside School Counseling or on the Special Programs bulletin board in the Career Center. Please see Mrs. Bravo in Room 100 if you are interested in registering. 

Attention members of South Windsor for the Local Kids. We will have our general body meeting Tuesday Oct 18th right after school in the Cafeteria. This meeting is mandatory as we will be sharing your new Executive Board members, sharing important updates, and finalizing plans for the volleyball marathon.  Please see Ms Vendetta in Room 145 or Ms Whitmore in Room 152 for any questions.
