SCHOOL NEWS:

Calling all current Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors interested in visiting France and Spain!  The Travel Club will be holding an informational session on Thursday, January 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the SWHS Cafeteria.  This trip will be during April break of 2024.  Please see Sra. Ruiz in Room 233 with questions.

Attention Seniors: The next round of Capstone presentations will be held on January 25th and 26th (midterm week).  In order to present, the following criteria must be met: All written work must be submitted to your adviser by January 18th; All written work must be scored by your advisor with at least a “successful” on every component; You will sign up to present on the Capstone Website via a Google form. Presentation times and locations will be posted to the Capstone website approximately 3 days before the presentation.  After the January wave, any remaining Seniors who have not completed Capstone may be reassigned to a structured study hall to work on their project.  Structured study halls may be scheduled during any study hall periods including late arrival or early release periods. Reach out to your adviser with questions.

The 9th Grade Class of 2026 will be selling Class Shirts until 1/9/23. Please show your spirit and grab one while they last! We will be having Spirit Days so you can wear your new shirt! Shirts will be delivered to Mrs. Barrett's room to save on shipping!

Calling all Pizza lovers!!! Class of 2023 is hosting a fundraiser at Frank Pepe's Pizzeria on 1/11/23 from 11am-10pm. It is located at 221 Buckland Hills Drive. Purchase a slice while supporting the Class of 2023!!! 
 
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:    

The South Windsor High School HOPE Club is sponsoring a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross in the Cafeteria on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be free snacks and drinks for donors. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross. You must be at least 16 years of age to donate and must have the Parental Consent form completed. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER: 

This is a reminder to all Seniors applying to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Scholarship Program that the deadline for the first round of scholarships through Scholarship America is coming up on Thursday, January 12th. This application takes some time to fill out and requires financial information so if you have not started it yet, you should do so soon. You can find the link in Naviance or go to www.hfpg.org/scholarships

First Approach EMS Education in East Windsor is offering a variety of evening classes to provide EMR and EMT training throughout the winter and spring. Flyers for each of the classes offered are posted in the Career Center with information on how to register. Registration closes on January 11th.
