February is Black History Month. Today, Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society honors: 
Bob Marley. Bob Marley was a reggae legend who gained international fame for songs that spoke of politics, religion, and life on the streets, including his anthem “Get Up, Stand Up.” His greatest hits compilation titled Legend was released in 1984 and sold millions of copies, after his tragic death three years before.

Good Morning Students of South Windsor High School. The following students have been nominated by teachers to be students of the month for January. These students have shown excellence in academic, social or civic expectations, and have made an impression on those around them. Congratulations to: Alex Viar,

French Exchange: All student-hosts are required to attend a meeting on Monday, February 12, at 2:05pm in Room 228. This is an important meeting to plan for the arrival of the French on Wednesday, March 28. Please see Madame Rosano with any questions. 

Attention all students. Come out and support the basketball team next Tuesday, February 13. Student Council is running a Canned Food Drive. Students bringing in two canned goods will be admitted to the game for free; adults with four canned goods will be admitted for free. Hope to see you there.

The Hartford Hospital Volunteer Program will hold its parent and student information session on Tuesday, February 13 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.  Students who attend receive early access to the application. See the flier in the Career Center for more information.

Applications for the UConn Explore Engineering Program are now available. The five day residential program allows students to explore a variety of engineering fields. You must be a current grade 10 or grade 11 student. More information is available in the Career Center.

Reminder to seniors…if you have done your Capstone presentation but have not submitted the written portion of the project, you must do so by TOMORROW. 

Athletic News:
-There will be a meeting tomorrow after school in Room 159 for anyone interested in playing softball this spring. This is for both new and returning players.
