February is Black History Month. Today, Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society honors: Shirley Chisholm. Shirley Chisholm was the first African American woman to be elected to the US Congress. She served seven terms as a representative from New York’s 12th district, and also ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 1972, becoming the first African-American woman to run for office.

The Strategy Club will meet this Wednesday in Room 146. There will be a club photo taken for the yearbook. All past and present members are invited to come to the meeting and be in the yearbook photo.
The Science Fiction/Fantasy Club meets today for a writer's workshop from 2:00 – 4:00pm in Room 127. Our club picture will be taken for the yearbook as well.
Attention All Unity Club Members, we will have our cultural food meeting on Monday, February 26 after school at the School Counseling Career Center. Please bring any food items you would like to share with the club for this meeting. We will have food and watch music videos from different cultures at this meeting. Hope to see you all there.

-Attention spring athletes: This is just a reminder that you need to sign up online by March 5th in order to be eligible for the first day of tryouts. If you played a previous sport this year, stop by the Main Office to move your sports forms forward and to drop off your check for your spring sport. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Jelly in the Main Office.
-Are you a girl interested in Track and Field? Come to an informational meeting after school on either Thursday, February 22 or on Tuesday, February 27 in Room 127. See Coach McCullough in Room 127 if you have any questions.
