Another fast fact presented by the Environmental Club: Did you know that the Long Island Sound helps to generate approximately $9.4 billion a year? The sound is used by ferries and ships to transport people and goods and provides commercial fishermen a place to catch oysters, crabs, lobsters, bluefish, bass, and flounder. It is also home to many nature centers and aquariums and is used for recreational activities, such as boating and bird watching. Come to the Environmental Club meeting to learn how to improve this important natural resource.

The Italian Club will meet after school TODAY in Room 226. We'll be taking a picture for the yearbook first, so please stop by even if you're not staying for the meeting.

Mind's Eye will hold a meeting today at 2:00pm in Room 146. New members are welcome to attend.

Open Auditions for the award winning South Windsor Show Choir Choral Spectrum will be held Monday, March 5 at 5:00pm in the High School Auditorium. Materials are on the school website under the Music Department or on Google Classroom; use code ea311i. Don't miss your opportunity to be a part of this amazing experience.

Are you interested in the theater business? Sign up for a one of a kind opportunity where you will explore non-stage careers at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. Stop by the Career Center of the Business Office to get your slip. Deadline is March 2. For more details see Ms. Festi or Ms. Cruz.

Attention students 17 and older, please sign up to donate blood on Wednesday, March 7. Over 30 million blood transfusions are needed in the US each year, and your donation can help to save 3 lives! Sign-ups will be done electronically; the link to the Google form will be available on the junior and senior Google classroom and on the high school home page. The Mock Trial Team will hold a meeting Wednesday after school Wednesday at 2:15pm in Room 157 to review the competition scores and celebrate the season. Please see Mr. Zeuschner if you cannot attend.

The RACE Committee is using the month of March to celebrate our religious diversity. Please take a few moments in your homeroom to fill out a two question survey that has been shared via a Google Form. This is voluntary; however, your participation would be greatly appreciated.  

The fashion field trip forms to the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology must be turned in by Thursday. See Mrs. Ziff in Room 7 during homeroom for forms and to drop off signed ones. Please mark your calendars for a mandatory meeting about the trip on March 27 after school. More details will follow through Google Classroom. 

The CT State Board of Education has opened their search for two new 2018-19 Student Board Members. Students, appointed by the governor, will serve from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Any junior interested in applying should look for additional information and the posting in the Career Center. Completed applications must be postmarked on or before April 13.

Attention all students going on the Jay Peak ski trip. There is a student-parent meeting TONIGHT at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Please see Ms. Lynch or Ms. Andrews if you have any questions.

Athletic News:

All students interested in trying out for the baseball team should attend an informational meeting after school Monday, March 5 in Room 161. Any questions, please see Mr. D'Amato.
