March is Women’s History Month. Today we honor: Sylvia Rivera. Sylvia Rivera was a transgender activist, known for her involvement in the Stonewall Riots. She also was a founder of the Gay Activist Alliance. Rivera created the STAR house, as well, where she took in homeless transgender children, in order to keep them from suffering through the same life on the streets she had endured. Despite being treated with extreme hostility throughout her entire life for her activism, she continued to fight for the rights and protection of transgender people until her death.

Students attending the field trip to New York City on Thursday will have a mandatory meeting this Wednesday after school in Room 135. If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. Ziff prior to the Wednesday meeting.
