October 10, 2023

It’s Jack-O-Gram season!  Share the spirit of kindness by sending your friends a gourd-eous  pumpkin with a spooktacular message. Buy your pumpkins from an FBLA member or during  Period 5 lunch waves from 10/16-10/27. You can buy 1 for $2, 2 for $3 or 3 for $5. They will be delivered on 10/31. See Ms Cruz with questions.

It’s time to nominate a senior for Homecoming King and Queen. The 8 students with the most nominations will move on to the 2023 Homecoming Court. Homecoming Court will be announced October 25th. The form is on the Google Classroom page for your class. Nominations must be entered before Friday, October 13th at 2:00 PM.

The 9th Grade Science teachers would like to invite last year’s participants in the annual 9th Grade Science Fair to enter their projects for an opportunity to submit to the Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair. Please check your grade level Google Classroom submission requirements. The google form must be completed by MONDAY, OCT 15. Feel free to contact Mrs. Eitel (Room 205) or Mrs. Davis (205) if you have any questions.

Thursday, October 12th is PSAT day for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Students must arrive with a fully charged Chromebook. We also recommend bringing a snack and a drink. A desmos calculator will be provided through the testing platform, or, students may bring their own personal calculator if they prefer. Room assignments will be posted around the school on large posters. See your school counselor with any questions.
12th grade students are not to report to school unless they are participating in Capstone presentations. We recommend that 12th grade students use this time to work on college application materials or participate in a college visit.

Picture retake day is Wednesday, October 11th in the Media Center. If students would like to have a picture retaken, they must report to the Main Office to see Mrs. Balducci before 8:30 am that morning to receive a pass for the retake. We encourage students to schedule their retakes during a study hall or during homeroom.

Student Council needs your help. We are looking for t-shirt designs that encompass the new SWHS campus, incorporating both the high school and annex buildings. The theme is “2 buildings, one community”. We want to stick with school colors of maroon, gold, white and black for the t-shirt and are looking for one design on the front of the shirt. Please submit t-shirt designs by October 13th at 2 pm using the custom link in your Google classroom. See Ms. Ullinger with questions.

Italian Club will meet on Wednesday, October 11th, right after school near the playground outside the Annex.  We will be playing bocce and eating pizza. Please bring  $5  to Mrs. Zaccardelli in Annex Room 35 to save your spot.

The Fashion Club meets tomorrow after school until 3 pm in Room 149A. We will make friendship bracelets. Please join our google classroom at 3gpp3aj.

The Environmental club will meet Wednesday, October 11th, at 2:10pm in Room 206. Join us to learn more about issues that face our planet and what you can do to help. Our projects include composting, bottles and cans recycling, growing spring bulbs, designing a perennial garden for the school, and presenting ocean acidification to the elementary schools.  Join our google classroom at 5SZWFAH
