The Bobcat Leaders for Inclusion Conference will now begin at 7:25 a.m. in the morning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20th. All students attending will be excused from all of their classes on Wednesday.

The Computer Science Club meeting will be held Wednesday, November 20th after school in the Media Center Project Room. Join us as we practice for our first competition! Everyone is welcome and bring a friend!

Our literary magazine club, Mind's Eye, will have a short meeting Thursday, November 21st after school in room 129. New members are welcome!

The Strategy Club will meet after school on Thursday, November 21st in room 7.

There will be a South Windsor For The Kids meeting this Thursday, November 21st after school in the Cafeteria, please let one of the board members know if you are unable to attend. 

There will be a visit from Maine College of Art tomorrow morning in the Career Center. If you have considered a career in the art field, this is a great opportunity to learn about programs that are available and the types of jobs they lead to. Please sign up in Naviance if you would like to attend.

Congratulations to Interact Club's volunteer of the month for October - Jack Huot! Thank you for your hard work.

The Bobcat Robotics team hosted its inaugural FIRST Lego League Event for students in grades 4-8 this past weekend at Timothy Edwards Middle School. SWHS robotics students served as judges, scorekeepers, sound technicians, ambassadors, MC's and referees. Several students made a video montage of the event for spectator viewing at the end of the event. Members of the Interact Club also helped by volunteering at the event that saw an estimated 300 people in attendance. NBC30 News featured the event on several news segments this past weekend! Congratulations to the two teams from South Windsor who competed in the event. The Technobots won the Robot Design Award and one of four "golden tickets" awarded at the event to attend the Connecticut State Championships. The Blue Sky Bots won an Innovation Project Award and also earned a golden ticket. Thank you to TEMS for hosting the event. Special congratulations to the planning committee of students who planned and orchestrated the very successful event: Pravav Ramesh, Sidharth Masarur, Micheal Ngo, Aarav Nair and Sivani Arvapalli.

We are celebrating DECA for the entire month of November. In 2014, the Town of South Windsor declared November as DECA Month. DECA is the Distributive Education Clubs of America and it prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Our Marketing classes spend the month of November doing all kinds of activities and community service to celebrate DECA. 

DECA will be collecting gently used coats for those in need until the end of the month. Please bring in your coats and put them in the box outside of the cafeteria. Thank you for your support! See Mrs. Barrett with any questions. 

Hey Bobcat Foodies! It's time to give thanks as we feast upon a turkey and stuffing bake, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, mini pumpkin pies, apple bread pudding, and salted caramel chocolate chip cookies. Bring $5 to Ms. Cliff in room 133 to reserve your spot in the kitchen.  

Do you love the holidays? Add some festivity to this holiday season with a Poinsettia plant! FCCLA club members will be selling Poinsettias for $6 a plant or $7 for a decorative plant from now until Wednesday, November 27th. Please help support FCCLA and add some color to your home!

Attention students attending the field trip with Mr. Smith tomorrow to the Hartford Convention Center for the AMC Future Work Force Opportunities Fair tomorrow. Please meet Mr. Smith in the lobby at 7:50 a.m. The bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. and we will be back at 10:30 a.m. New this year will be an interactive zone with Stanley Black & Decker robots; CCAT hosting simulators and other engaging activities. Mazak is providing a machine tool control simulator and we have also partnered with Quast Media who has created a 360-degree Virtual Reality Tour of The Lee Company. There is a photo release form you will need to get from Mr. Smith and have it signed by your parent or guardian. Please bring the signed form to the lobby. You can get a blank slip from the folder on the wall outside of room 12.

Attention all grade 10-12 students. The ASVAB is coming to SWHS on this Friday, November 22nd at 7:30 a.m. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is the Military's skill assessment test, which helps students uncover their strengths and what careers both within and outside the Military those strengths align with. This test is a free service for SWHS students. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB please sign up in the School Counseling Office.

FCCLA is holding a toy drive to help surrounding communities in need! Please bring in new, unwrapped toys and put them in the boxes in the lobby and cafeteria hallway by Tuesday, December 10th!

Athletic News:

Winter sports registration is now open in Parent Portal. Completion of online registration, submission of sports participation fee and physician’s statement are due by Thursday, November 21st in order for students to participate on the first day of tryouts (no exceptions). Physician statements and payments can be placed in the bin in the main office. There will be a Boys Basketball Open Gym today, Tuesday, November 19th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at SWHS.
