Hispanic Heritage Month fun fact: Hispanic Heritage Month began as a week-long celebration in 1968 under Lyndon B. Johnson, but was then extended to a month in 1988 under Ronald Regan.
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
Bobcat Robotics is kicking off their new season with an after school meeting for new members only, on Thursday, September 18th right after school in Room 11 in the basement. At this meeting, new members will get a chance to meet this year's captains and get an overview of what robotics is all about.

Announcement for MAT: Attention returning members of Mu Alpha Theta, please check your email for information about returning to the honors society this year. Letters for prospective Mu Alpha Theta members have been emailed and mailed home. Both returning members and new members must submit their google form by Friday September 19th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Singer or Miss Goslin.
The first French club "Le lynx" planning meeting for this school year will be held on Friday, September 19th in Annex room 39 at 2:05 PM. Please attend if you want to help pick the recipes for our first cooking day in October. The cooking session will take place in the kitchen in room AN 11 in the SWHS Annex. Snacks will be provided.

The HOPE club will host their first meeting on Thursday, September 25th in the back of the media center. Everyone is welcome, especially students who are interested in a career in healthcare! For more information, see the fliers posted around the school for our google classroom code.
We are pleased to announce the introductory meeting of the Islamic Cultural Club, taking place on Monday, September 22 in Annex Room 39. This meeting will provide an overview of the club’s activities and upcoming plans for the year. We are excited to expand the club’s presence this year, and we look forward to seeing you there. The Math Team will be having its first meeting of the year this Friday, September 19 at 2:15 in Room 265. Anyone who enjoys solving challenging math problems without use of a calculator and would like to compete against other schools is welcome to attend! Please see Mr. Brindisi in Room 265 if you are unable to attend.
The Yoga and Flexibility Club here at SWHS meets weekly every Thursday. The next meeting will be Thursday the 25th and snacks will be provided. Our classroom code is zd345lw.
ATHLETICS:
Newington and South Windsor played in a varsity boys matchup Tuesday in Newington. Both teams came in with identical 2-0-1 records and played a tightly contested game. While SW had chances by Naol Tirfessa and others, they couldn't put one in the net. However,with under 10 mins to play, Blake Lyons was taken down in the box and Hayden Xhokaxhiu converted the PK chance to give the Bobcats a 1-0 victory. Fran Linares earned the shutout in net for SW. Next up, SW plays New Britain on Thursday on the SWHS turf at 4pm.
