Attendance
Attendance & Absence Reporting
Regular attendance is essential to student learning and engagement. When a student must miss school, parents and guardians are responsible for notifying the school as soon as possible.
South Windsor High School (SWHS) follows district and state attendance guidelines when reviewing and classifying absences. When families report absences, the school determines whether an absence is excused or unexcused according to Board of Education policy.
Full district attendance policies are available on the South Windsor Public Schools District website.
The following guidelines below are provided as a resource for families to effectively communicate with SWHS in the event a student is absent from school.
Reporting a Student Absence
If your child will be absent for all or part of the school day, please notify the school before 9:00AM. Families may report an absence using any of the following methods:
Phone Call (Main Office: 860-648-5000)
Call the school’s attendance line and provide:
- Student’s full name
- Reason for the absence
- Parent/Guardian contact number
Parent Portal
Parents and Guardians report an absence or tardy using the Attendance Form in Parent Portal.
This method satisfies written documentation for Level One absences (1-9 days). Additional documentation may be required for extended or repeated absences.
ParentSquare
Parents and Guardians may also notify the school through ParentSquare by messaging school administration or the appropriate administrative assistant.
