Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

Transitioning to a Quarterly Parent Advisory Council (PAC) for 2026–2027

Dear South Windsor High School Families,

We know your time is incredibly valuable.  Between school events, daily communication with teachers, and managing busy family schedules, our community receives an abundance of information. In listening to your feedback, we want to ensure that our parent partnership opportunities are high-impact, intentional, and respectful of your evening time.

This year, we are transitioning our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) from a monthly obligation to a quarterly structure. This shift allows us to move away from routine operational updates and instead host meaningful, deep-dive School/Family Learning Sessions combined with quarterly progress updates, school happenings, and dedicated space for your feedback.

  • The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) serves as a collaborative forum for families, administration, and school leadership to engage in transparent dialogue, promote shared decision-making, and drive school-wide improvement. Together, we aim to foster inclusive engagement and support student success through intentional communication and feedback.

Additionally, the PAC serves as a bridge between families and the school by providing educational opportunities, highlighting student experiences, and fostering meaningful connections within our school community.

  • All meetings will be held in the Seminar Room & Virtually at 6:00 pm to accommodate all schedules.

    • Quarter 1: October 1, 2026

      • Learning Session Focus: Student Involvement & Pathways (Exploring how students can maximize their high school experience, find their niche, and navigate future career/academic pathways.)

    • Quarter 2: December 1, 2026

      • Learning Session Focus: Artificial Intelligence in Education (Understanding how AI is reshaping the classroom, academic integrity, and how families can navigate this landscape at home.)

    • Quarter 3: February 1, 2027

      • Learning Session Focus: Mental Health & Student Supports (A deep dive into our school-wide safety nets, counseling resources, and proactive wellness strategies for teens.)

    • Quarter 4: May 3, 2027

      • Learning Session Focus: Celebrations, Recognitions & Looking Ahead (Honoring our collective successes, reviewing year-end data, and gathering feedback for the next school year.)

Note: Keep an eye out for our PAC Special Nights throughout the year, including Open House, Grade-Level Parent Nights, and Teacher Appreciation Week!

  • To make sure we maximize every minute, each quarterly meeting will follow a structured, action-oriented agenda:

    1. Principal Updates: High-level school progress, logistics, operations, and upcoming special events.

    2. School-Wide Organizational Goals (SWOG) & Committee Updates: Transparent reporting on our school growth goals and progress.

    3. Quarterly Learning Topic: Our deep-dive presentation and educational session on the evening's designated theme.

    4. Parent Pulse / Q&A: A dedicated open forum using previously submitted parent questions to ensure we address what matters most to you.

  • You don't have to attend every meeting to support our students and staff!  The PAC also organizes critical support community-wide, including:

    • Providing mid-term and final exam week treats for our hard-working staff.

    • Leading our annual Teacher Appreciation Week recognition initiatives.

  • Whether you want to join us as a regular member, attend a single session that interests you, or help with staff appreciation, your voice is vital.
