SCHOOL NEWS:
It’s time for “this date in history.” On February 5, 1919 the United Artists Corporation film studio was created by Hollywood personalities Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and D.W. Griffith. During the 1900s, several legendary films were released from UA including The African Queen, The Magnificent Seven, West Side Story, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Rocky, and Annie Hall. In 1983 it merged with MGM and was reintroduced independently as United Artists again in 2006.
Also on this date in 1934, Hank Aaron was born and was known for being one of baseball’s most prolific homerun hitters and eventually surpassed Babe Ruth’s record of 714 home runs by hitting a total of 755 in his career. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
