SCHOOL NEWS:
It’s time for “this date in history.” On February 6, 1817, Congress authorized the President to commission John Trumbull (son of former CT governor Jonathon Trumbull) to paint four life-size paintings of the American Revolution for placement in the US Capitol building. It took Trumbull six years to complete the project, but it helped solidify Trumbull as a very prominent artist, capturing many of America’s earliest significant moments by way of the paintbrush. Also on this date in 1895, Babe Ruth, one of baseball’s most famous players, was born. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
