SCHOOL NEWS:
The Class of 2027 is selling baked goods at the Boys Varsity Basketball home game on Friday, February 20th. All sales will help with Class of 2027 event fees.
Mu Alpha Theta is hosting SAT tutoring for math TODAY right after school in the back of the Library Media Center. The session will run from 2:00-3:30, but you can drop by for any amount of time you'd like. This is a great way to freshen up on skills and prepare for the SAT! Everybody is welcome!
It’s time for “this date in history.” On February 19, 1807, then US Vice President Aaron Burr was arrested for treason but was eventually acquitted. On this date in 1878, Thomas Edison patented the phonograph. On February 19, 1945, US Marines invaded the island of Iwo Jima in what became a pivotal turning point in World War Two on the Pacific front. Finally, on February 19, 1992 John Singleton became the first Black director nominated for an Oscar Award. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
Tickets are now on sale for the first annual South Windsor Show Choir Showcase February 24 and 25th in the South Windsor High School Auditorium at 7 PM! Buy Tickets BELOW!!
This special fundraising event will be held at the South Windsor High School Auditorium and will be at 7 PM for both performances. It features the only in town performances of the competition shows of both the award-winning show choirs Spotlight and Choral Spectrum! The event also features Spectrum Band, Treble Choir, Understaffed, and Spotlight Soloists. Tell all your friends! This is an event not to be missed!
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
The Cooking Club will be celebrating the theme, Love at First Bite, on February 19th in the Annex Kitchen from 2:05PM to 4:00PM. We will be making: Chocolate covered fruit, Chips and cheddar cheese fondue, Baked Mac-n-Cheese, Croque Monsieur Sandwiches, Strawberry lemonade, Mousse au chocolat, Vegan Brookies, and Crepes with nutella and crushed oreos. Please bring $5 to Mr. Ly in AN 39 or Ms. Ruiz in AN 56.
The HOPE club’s February meeting is on Thursday, February 26th, after school from 2-3pm in Room 207. Come hang out with others who are interested in medical careers while learning about different heart diseases and practicing real medical skills in disease based scenarios. See flyers posted around the school for more information.
South Windsor for the Local Kids is raising money in front of Stop and Shop on February 21st and 22nd from 10 am to 2 pm.
ATHLETICS:
Anyone interested in trying out for the Varsity boys golf team this spring needs to attend a short informational meeting on Wednesday, March 11th, after school in Room 168. If you're planning on trying out for the team and can't attend this meeting you need to connect with Coach Gray in Room 168 before the March 11th meeting to be eligible.
