It’s time for “this date in history.” On February 20th, 1792, President George Washington signed legislation renewing the US Post Office as a Cabinet department to be led by the Postmaster General–the first Postmaster General was Benjamin Franklin. On this date in 1962, John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth. On February 20, 1998, Tara Lipinski became the youngest Olympic figure skating gold medalist. Famous birthdays on this date include landscape photographer Ansel Adams in 1920, model Cindy Crawford in 1966, singer Kurt Cobain in 1967, and singer Olivia Rodrigo in 2003. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
