Today is also National Waffle Day, commemorating the day that the first stove-top waffle iron was patented in 1869. The famous movie The Outsiders was released in 1983 and the popular series The Bachelor debuted in 2002. Famous birthdays include singer Aretha Franklin and actresses Marcia Cross and Jenny Slate.
