SCHOOL NEWS:
Attention seniors, the next round of in-person collections are coming soon. We will be collecting during lunch in the Seminar Room on Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st. It’s time for “this date in history.” On March 27, 1775, Thomas Jefferson was elected to the Second Continental Congress. Considered the primary writer of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson would eventually serve as George Washington’s first U.S. Secretary of State, would serve as John Adams’ Vice President, and then served two terms as President from 1801 - 1809. On March 27, 1929, President Herbert Hoover was the first president to have a phone installed at their desk in the Oval Office. On March 27, 1939 the University of Oregon beat The Ohio State University to win the first ever NCAA men’s basketball tournament. For the first 12 years of the tournament, only eight teams were invited to the tournament. Since that time, the tournament eventually grew to its current size of 68 teams receiving an invite and both the men’s and women’s tournament have the same number of invited teams to compete in what is now nicknamed “March Madness.” Finally, on today’s date in 2005 the popular TV series Grey’s Anatomy debuted for its first season. CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
The Hispanic Latino Student Alliance is hosting a slime fundraiser from March 23- April 6th. Students will be able to order via a QR code listed on flyers posted around the school thru April 6th and slime will be delivered on April 10th during Bobcat Block.
SNHS (Science National Honor Society) will be hosting their 2nd Annual Science Speaks event in the Seminar Room on March 27, 2026 at 2:15. We will have speakers from the UConn Actuarial Society and the Center for DNA Guided Medicine. All are welcome to attend. Scan the QR Code on the flyer below for more information.

Girls Lacrosse is hosting a fundraiser at Oakland Pizza on March 31st from 4pm-8:30pm.
Attention student-athletes: SWHS will host another College Athletics Signing Ceremony on May 11 at 12:00 PM in the Auditorium. If you have committed to play a college sport and have not already participated in the December ceremony, please See Mr. Wry for details
