SCHOOL NEWS:
It’s time for “this date in history.” On May 12, 1907, Katharine Hepburn was born in Hartford, Connecticut. Hepburn is known as one of the most talented actresses to have ever appeared on the big screen and even earned four Oscar Awards. Though she did not live in Connecticut her whole life, she remained close to her Connecticut roots and visited her family’s estate in Old Saybrook. Additionally, she helped raise awareness to clean and preserve the Connecticut River. Hepburn passed away at the age of 96 and rests in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Other famous birthdays on this date include baseball player Yogi Berra, comedian George Carlin, actors Emilio Estevez, Stephen Baldwin, Rami Malek, Kim Fields, Emily VanCamp, and skateboarder Tony Hawk. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
