SCHOOL NEWS:
For students attending Junior Prom:
In order to attend student activities such as Junior Prom, students must be in school for at least 50% of the school day. Students who arrive at 7:25 are eligible to be dismissed at 10:01 (after period 4). A link to a google form was emailed to parents on Tuesday. Please make sure your parents complete this form in order to grant you permission to be dismissed from school early. For those students who arrive after 7:25, please be advised that it is important for you to be in school for at least half of the school day in order for your attendance at Junior Prom to be in good standing. Failure to do so may prohibit your ability to attend. Advisors and administrators will be checking attendance throughout the day to ensure that all students attending Junior Prom meet these requirements.
Junior Prom will be held at the Marriott in Hartford, CT. All students will have their bags checked upon entry into the venue. If you park at the Marriott garage, the price is $11.
Please know, the latest students can enter prom is 7:00 PM. Any student(s) arriving after that time will not be permitted. In addition, once students decide to leave prom for the night, they will not be readmitted.
It’s time for “this date in history.” On May 14, 1787, delegates assembled in Philadelphia to begin the peaceful transition of government under the Articles of Confederation to a new government–eventually leading to the creation and adoption of the U.S. Constitution. On May 14, 1804, Lewis and Clark began their now famous expedition from the American Midwest to the Pacific coast. 100 years later on this date, America would host its first Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri. On May 14, 1973, the first U.S. space station Skylab was launched. On May 14, 1998, the last episode of the iconic Seinfeld aired. The show developed into a landmark of American popular culture and is considered one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. Not bad for a show about nothing. Famous birthdays on this date include film directors George Lucas, Robert Zemickis, and Sofia Coppola, actress Miranda Cosgrove, and football player Rob Gronkowski. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
