OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
It’s time for “this date in history.” On September 29, 2005, John Roberts Jr. was sworn in as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, the 17th person to have this role. On September 29, 1988, Stacy Allison became the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. In pop culture, today is known as National Coffee Day. No one really knows the origin of the holiday, but one theory suggests it goes back to 1983 when Japan wanted to raise awareness of the struggles of coffee growing farmers and to promote fair trade coffee. On the big screen, Remember the Titans debuted on this date in 2000. Some iconic series that debuted on this date include My Three Sons, MacGyver, Felicity, and Law & Order: Los Angeles.
