Student ID's for Grades 10 and 11 will be handed out today during lunch waves in the cafeteria hallway. Please be sure to pick up your ID during your assigned lunch wave.
The Senior Rock Signing is happening this Friday, October 2nd during all four lunch waves. Here’s how it works:
1. Exit through the Hall of Achievement and make your way around to the Senior Rock to sign your name.
2. Once you finish signing, head over to the Senior Lunchroom (Seminar Room) for a sweet ice cream treat!
It’s time for “this date in history.” On October 1, 1890, The U.S. Congress passed an Act creating Yosemite National Park–today it ranks as one of the most visited national parks in our nation. On October 1, 1908, the first Model T Ford car was completed in Detroit, Michigan at the cost of $825, roughly the equivalent of $30,000 in today’s money. On October 1, 1962, Johnny Carson began hosting The Tonight Show–Carson is regarded as the all-time great of late night talk show hosts and helped pave the way for other late night hosts spanning several decades.
On October 1, 1971, Disney World Resort opened in Orlando, Florida. On October 1, 1975, Muhammad Ali defeated Joe Frazier in the boxing match dubbed as the “Thrila in Manila”--it is regarded as one of the best boxing bouts in history. Famous birthdays on this date include 39th President Jimmy Carter. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
The Cooking Club's second planning meeting of this school year will be on Thursday, October 1st at 2:05 PM in room AN 56. Come join us to pick the theme and recipes for the October menu. We will be cooking on Thursday, October 22nd in the Annex Kitchen. We hope to see you there!
Interested in history, trivia, or competing with a team? Join the History Bowl Club! We’ll be preparing for History Bowl competitions, practicing buzzer-based questions, and learning about a wide range of historical topics. On October 1, SWHS is hosting a Pathways Expo for all students. This event will include a College/Career Fair in the gym alongside a Student Activities Fair in the cafeteria to promote our clubs and organizations. We will start the day with Bobcat Block to deliver information about the event. Then students will travel with their class to visit the Expo during one of the three assigned waves in period 1.

Homecoming tickets will go on sale Wednesday 10/7 and will continue through Wednesday 10/14. The dance will be on Friday 10/16 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. All tickets can be purchased through parent square along with the permission slip. Once you make your purchase, your name will be added to an admission list. In order to enter the dance, you must arrive by 6:45 and have a photo ID with you. There are no outside guests allowed. You may submit song requests to the DJ by the google form embedded in the parent square post. If there are any questions, please email Miss Goslin or stop by room 233.
