2026 South Windsor Patriotic Commission Student Essay and Poster Contest

The 2026 South Windsor Patriotic Commission Student Essay and Poster Contest is now open. This contest is open to any South Windsor resident who is a student anywhere in grades K-12 and any nonresident student in grades K-12 attending a South Windsor District school.
Essay and Poster topics for this year:
Grades K-2: POSTER (maximum size 12" x 14") My favorite patriotic place in South Windsor.
Grades 3-5: ESSAY (300 words or less) My favorite Connecticut historical person and why.
Grades 6-8: ESSAY (350 words or less) What freedoms have I experienced in South Windsor that feel patriotic.
Grades 9-12: ESSAY (500 words or less) Where in the U.S.A. have I experienced patriotism that impacted me.
Prizes:
1st place winner receives a $100 Barnes and Nobles gift card.
2nd place winner receives a $50 Barnes and Nobles gift card.
3rd place winner receives a $25 Barnes and Nobles gift card.
All winners will be invited to ride in the South Windsor Memorial Day Parade on May 25th, 2026
All winners will be invited to attend a town council meeting for special recognition from our town council.
